Why Rent a Utility Trailer?
A utility trailer provides an open, easy-to-load option for transporting items that don't need to be enclosed. They're useful for projects involving furniture, lawn and landscaping equipment, building materials, and other appropriately sized loads.
KD Trailer Rentals offers two utility trailer sizes in Troy, IL. The 14ft utility trailer has a 2,500 lb capacity, while the 20ft utility trailer has a 7,500 lb capacity. Both have straps available upon request.
If you're not sure which size fits your project, our utility trailer hauling guide explains what you can realistically haul and how to choose between the available options.
Choosing the Right Utility Trailer Size
KD Trailer Rentals offers two utility trailer sizes. The right option depends on the size and weight of your load and the towing capabilities of your vehicle.
The 14ft utility trailer has a 2,500 lb capacity and requires a 2-inch ball hitch. It is the smaller utility trailer option for lighter loads and projects that don't require the additional deck space of the 20ft trailer.
The 20ft utility trailer has a 7,500 lb capacity and requires a 2 5/16-inch ball hitch. It provides more deck space and a higher weight capacity for larger loads.
Both trailers have straps available upon request and require either a 4-pin or 7-pin plug.
Towing Requirements
Towing requirements depend on the size you choose. The 14ft model requires a standard 2-inch ball hitch and does not require a brake controller, making it compatible with most vehicles people already own. The heavy-duty 20ft model requires a 2 5/16 inch ball hitch and a brake controller to handle the increased weight capacity safely.
